Principal Structural Design Consultant

This small, well-established specialist design consultancy is part of a large utilities contractor group.

They specialize in structural design for projects in the power industry.

You will be joining a very experienced team where everyone takes responsibility for their own projects.

The types of projects will include substation design, battery storage facilities, design of blast-resistant buildings, switch houses, GIS buildings, buildings to house transformer cells, and designing of specialist steelwork structures and supports underground and inside of tunnels to carry heavy power cables.

There are refurbishment and new builds involved.

Projects normally involve design in steel and concrete, with some masonry and can range from small up to multi-million £ schemes.

The work is interesting and complex, with each project being different.

The role will include some travel to sites in the region, for which a pool car is provided.

In addition to base salary, there are various benefits, including social events, trips abroad, CPD, a 9-day working fortnight, 23 days holiday in addition to the 9-day fortnight scheme, a 36-hour week, hybrid working, healthcare cover, mobile phone and laptop, generous bonus scheme, Perks at Work scheme, and EV discount car scheme.
