About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tunneling Engineer to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a key member of our Ground Engineering and Tunnelling (GE&T) Practice, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality tunneling projects and contributing to the growth of our business.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Tunneling team with strategic bids and develop your own network of business contacts to contribute to the growth of the Tunneling disciplines.
- Integrate the team to our technical discipline and market leads, and mentor early career team members.
- Develop and lead tunnelling design teams, and provide technical expertise in tunnel design, construction, and operation.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet their requirements.
- Manage projects from planning to commissioning, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
Requirements
- A strong academic background with a relevant degree (ideally MSc or equivalent).
- Chartered status in civil or structural engineering (is a requirement).
- Excellent interpersonal and technical skills, with the ability to develop and lead tunnelling design teams.
- Project management experience, with a strong understanding of the needs and approaches to the engineering consultancy and design markets.
- Proven tunnelling design experience in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment.
- Proven experience using advanced constitutive soil models and numerical modelling software (FLAC or PLAXIS).
- Proven experience using advanced structural analysis and numerical modelling software (Robot or STAAD).
- Application of CDM Regulations.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients.
- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
- A willingness to travel on short assignments both within the UK and overseas.
