About the Role:
The Employment Mentor will play a critical role in providing tailored employability support to a caseload of young people, helping them to manage and develop their skills to encourage progression into sustainable employment, education, apprenticeships, and training opportunities.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage a small caseload of young people with career plans and progression, accurately identifying their needs, challenges, career ambitions, strengths, and development areas, and signposting where relevant.
- Deliver high-quality in-work support, advice, and guidance for young people on our employability programmes, sustaining participants for an appropriate amount of time and ensuring they sustain progression into apprenticeships and sustained employment.
- Assist in the delivery of 1-1 and group work sessions, such as interview techniques, job searches, CV writing, and confidence building, to support and motivate young people, preparing them to a high standard for interviews with employers.
- Complete goal-focused action plans for young people, prepare CVs, cover letters, job/apprenticeship application forms, job packs, undertake job searches with participants, and arrange interviews where appropriate.
- Engage with the local community and undertake outreach work to successfully identify young people for employability programmes, supporting the delivery of any relevant events, job fairs, workshops, and seminars.
- Ensure all inputted data is securely stored and progress logged.
- Comply with all relevant policies and procedures, including Safeguarding/Prevent, Health and Safety, and Diversity and Equality.
- Demonstrate excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Teams and Office.
- A relevant professional qualification in coaching or IAG would be advantageous.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- An awareness of the digital or technical sectors and/or apprenticeships may be beneficial.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to gain people's confidence and put them at ease.
- Flexible, adaptable, persuasive, and patient, with a positive approach to problem-solving and a can-do attitude.
Benefits:
- £27,000 - £29,500 per annum salary
- 28 days annual leave + bank holidays, rising to 33 days with service
