About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Administrative Support Officer to join our Upper GI & Colorectal Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive administrative support to ensure the smooth delivery of our Upper GI & Colorectal Cancer pathway.

Main Responsibilities

  • Receive referrals for patients requiring investigations for suspected Upper GI & Colorectal cancer.
  • Arrange and co-ordinate appropriate investigations and appointments as directed by the Upper GI & Colorectal Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team.
  • Liaise with the cancer referral co-ordinator to initiate urgent and 2 week wait out-patient appointments.
  • Work alongside the multi-professional team to provide a professional service which meets the needs of Upper GI & Colorectal cancer patients.
  • Ensure a high-quality service for patients suspected of and diagnosed with, Upper GI & Colorectal cancer at all stages of the cancer pathway.
  • Communicate effectively, sensitively and appropriately with service users, relatives, carers, colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team, wider organisation and external agencies, both verbally and in written documentation, including handling difficult and sensitive conversations and situations.

Requirements

  • GCSE qualifications in Maths and English
  • Previous administrative experience
  • IT and computer literacy with a range of applications using Microsoft software etc.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive and difficult conversations
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Collaborative working with multi-disciplinary team members
