About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and efficient individual to join our team as a Medical Receptionist. As a key member of our front-of-house team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our GP Surgery in Worsley.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answering telephone calls and dealing with patient enquiries in a helpful and courteous manner
  • Booking, cancelling, and amending patient appointments using EMIS web clinical software
  • Manning the practice's email inbox and responding to patient queries
  • Maintaining a good rapport with internal and external customers, ensuring a high level of patient satisfaction
  • Having an overview of the demands and workflow of the Practice during the working day
  • Ensuring the waiting area and reception front desk are kept tidy and well-stocked
  • Arranging appointments for patients reviews as part of QOF management
  • Registering new patients living within our catchment area
  • Dealing with internal and external post
  • Patient engagement, proactively informing patients of benefits for signing up to online services
  • Effectively signposting patients to services appropriate to their needs
  • Scanning and actioning clinical correspondence as per GP instructions
  • Emailing referrals to relevant hospital departments and accurately documenting receipt in patient records
  • Processing referrals using e-RS
  • Requesting repeat prescriptions and filing prescriptions actioned by the GP
  • Being flexible to cover shifts in the event of staff holidays and sickness at short notice
Person Specification
  • Experience in providing information and advice to patients/relatives
  • Ability to exercise judgement when dealing with patient enquiries/problems
  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of EMIS web clinical system and Docman
  • Ability to manage own workload and act independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High degree of accuracy with regard to patient correspondence and filing
  • Sensitivity and empathy with people from different backgrounds
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Ability to work without close supervision
  • Ability to work to a professional standard
Desirable
  • Previous administration/receptionist experience in a similar setting and ideally in a GP Practice
