Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pediatrician to join our team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Pediatrician, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our pediatric services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive clinical care to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in ward rounds, outpatient sessions, and other clinical activities as required.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical policies and procedures.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest medical knowledge and best practices.
Requirements
  • MBChB or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Full MRCPCH qualification.
  • Satisfactory completion of F1/F2 post or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of pediatric experience (excluding foundation training).
  • At least 6 months tertiary neonatal experience.
  • APLS and NLS certifications.
  • Level 2 safeguarding training.
Desirable Criteria
  • Distinctions, scholarships, or prizes.
  • Experience in research or academic pursuits.
  • 12 months continuous experience within the NHS.
  • Level 3 safeguarding training.
  • Additional degrees, such as MSc or PhD.
Eligibility
  • Full registration with the GMC.

  • Competence in basic clinical procedures.
  • Able to prioritize clinical need, time, and workload.
  • Aware of own limitations.
  • Understands the principles of patient confidentiality and data protection.
  • Understands the importance of working effectively in teams.
  • Ability to assess, recognize, and initiate management of the acutely ill patient.
  • Computer literate.
Teaching, Audit, and Research
  • Understanding of the basic principles of audit and clinical governance.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Able to communicate effectively in a medical context.
  • Able to discuss treatment options with patients and carers in a way they can understand.
  • Able to establish good working relations with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Experience of working in teams.
  • Detailed knowledge of safeguarding agenda and its relevant legislation, policy, and guidance.
