About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Transport Planning Team Leader to join our Transport Planning team at the London Borough of Havering.

As Deputy Director of Infrastructure, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of regeneration across the borough, ensuring that growth is delivered in line with the Havering Local Plan and the borough's Transport Strategy.

You will be responsible for leading the delivery of transport planning projects, providing policy input into strategic infrastructure projects, and supporting the development of the Council's behaviour change programmes.

You will also work closely with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of the Council's aspirations and ambitions, including the emerging Active Travel and Electric Vehicle Charging Point strategies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Transport Planning: Delivering transport planning projects and providing policy input into strategic infrastructure projects being delivered across Havering.
  • Team Leadership: Providing strategic direction and support to members of the transport planning team.
  • Regeneration: Supporting the delivery of the Council's highly regarded behaviour change programmes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Working with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery of the Council's aspirations and ambitions.

To be successful in this role, you will need strong transport/spatial planning skills, experience dealing with Members, and several years of experience working in the transport planning industry. You will also need to have a comprehensive understanding of planning and local government legislation and be informed on the latest developments affecting transport planning and regeneration.
