About Your New Role

Weightmans is seeking a talented lawyer to join our national Commercial team. As a key member of our team, you will work with a diverse range of clients, including private and public sector organizations, to provide expert advice on commercial contracts, technology, data protection, intellectual property, and competition law.

Our team is known for its comprehensive range of commercial services, and we are looking for a lawyer who can provide high-quality advice on a variety of contracts, from day-to-day business relationships to major projects.

The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of post-qualification experience and a strong background in police law and in-house services. You will be confident, self-assured, and able to work effectively with senior personnel in a calm and pragmatic manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support work for police clients, providing swift and accurate advice on complex issues.
  • Assist clients with implementation of government policy, strategy, and managing major projects.
  • Analyze Police powers for Chief Constables, Deputy Chief Constables, PCCs, and their Chief Executives, vires issues, and work on national collaborations in high-profile and sensitive areas.
  • Assist with police misconduct matters.

About You

  • 4-6 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in police law and in-house services is an advantage.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Conscientious, hardworking, with developed critical thinking abilities and excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
