About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our dynamic team at Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality psychiatric care to children and adolescents with severe and complex mental health problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, manage, and treat children, adolescents, and families with severe and complex mental health problems.
  • Carry psychiatric responsibility for patients seen by psychiatrists within your respective CAMHS team.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including medication management and psychotherapy.
  • Participate in research and audit projects to improve patient outcomes and service delivery.
Requirements
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months of gaining CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant Higher Degree (MD, PhD, MSc, or other additional clinical qualifications).
  • MRCPsych OR MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
  • Specific additional therapy training (CBT, systemic therapy, DBT, etc.).
Personal Skills and Attributes
  • Leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to manage own time, workload, and prioritize clinical work.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written and oral communication.
  • Approachable and compassionate personality with good listening skills.
