Job Summary

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a qualified and experienced Learning Disability Nurse to join our team as a Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the operational management and clinical oversight of our service, providing day-to-day management, leadership, and line management to the team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the operational management and clinical oversight of the Service.
  • Provide day-to-day management, leadership, and line management to the team.
  • Oversee and ensure specialist assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for service users with complex Learning Disabilities.
  • Demonstrate enhanced competence in complex decision making, assessment, and the management of clinical needs.
  • Collect and collate data/information effectively for the purpose of audit, research, and service performance.
  • Work in partnership with service users, carers, and other agencies to ensure effectiveness of outcomes.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse - Learning Disabilities (RNLD) or Mental Health (RNMH)
  • Significant experience as a team leader or manager working within Learning Disabilities/Mental Health

Desirable Qualifications

  • Formal Teaching and Assessing Certificate/Qualification
  • Other post-registration courses

Length and/or Nature of Experience

  • Experience of working in an in-patient setting at management level
  • Previous experience supervising/managing staff, undertaking basic HR functions
  • Experience of working with service users with complex care needs requiring higher levels of expertise
  • Experience of audit, research, and the application of evidence-based practice
  • Experience of teaching, assessing, and developing training programmes
  • Evidence of recent multidisciplinary working
