Position Overview:

Senior Vice President of Operations

We are in search of a Senior Vice President of Operations to become a vital part of our team at Leonardo. As a prominent entity in defense electronics, Leonardo is dedicated to delivering critical systems for situational awareness and surveillance across various domains including land, sea, and air. Our Radar and Advanced Targeting division is globally acknowledged for its expertise in the production of radars, lasers, and infrared countermeasure systems.

The Senior VP of Operations will be responsible for overseeing all operational functions within the Edinburgh division, collaborating closely with the site Senior Vice President and other essential stakeholders. This role encompasses management of operations such as Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Health Safety & Environment (HSE), Security, and Facilities Management. Reporting directly to the UK Operations Director, this position leads a workforce of over 500 professionals. The Senior VP of Operations is also an integral member of the UK Operations Leadership Team, contributing to the implementation of the operations strategy across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Edinburgh site leadership team to achieve business goals while ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Establish the long-term vision for UK Operations in partnership with the Operations Leadership Team.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and spearhead digital manufacturing initiatives.
  • Oversee all elements of the Manufacturing Plan and facilitate seamless transitions for new product introductions.
  • Enhance inventory management in accordance with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ensure adherence to Quality, HSE, and Security standards.
  • Lead the Operations Team while maintaining high professional standards.
  • Organize operational functions effectively to drive overall business success.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record in a similar leadership role with a strong focus on achieving results.
  • Experience in manufacturing complex electro-mechanical products.
  • Expertise in transformation, continuous improvement, and digital manufacturing technologies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Quality & HSE requirements in a regulated setting.
  • Excellent communication skills and a relevant academic background.
