Job Description:

A Compassionate Learning Support Assistant is required to support a non-verbal child with autism in a welcoming school environment in Southend-on-Sea. As an experienced SEND LSA, you will work closely with the child to promote their learning and personal development.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children with autism and special educational needs. You will be expected to assist with communication strategies, engage the child in classroom activities, and ensure they receive the tailored support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support a child with non-verbal autism in the classroom on a one-to-one basis.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individual learning plans.
  • Support with communication strategies and help the child engage in learning activities.
  • Promote the child's social, emotional, and personal development.
  • Work alongside the class teacher to ensure the child's needs are met.
  • Build positive relationships with the child, their family, and the school team.

Requirements:
Previous experience working with children with autism and special educational needs. Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting children with SEND. A proactive and flexible approach to work. Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent are desirable.
