Pharmacist Specialist in Perioperative Medicine

The perioperative service at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a specialist area that requires dedicated and skilled professionals to deliver high-quality patient care. As an Advanced Pharmacist, you will play a vital role in ensuring patients receive optimal care before, during, and after surgery.
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of pharmaceutical principles, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement prescribing guidelines, monitor drug expenditure, and support education and training initiatives. Your expertise will also contribute to clinical audit and practice research, driving continuous improvement in perioperative care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice on pharmaceutical matters to patients and healthcare professionals.
- Develop and implement prescribing guidelines to enhance patient medication optimisation.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to improve patient outcomes through evidence-based practice.
- Monitor and analyse drug expenditure, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Contribute to clinical audit and research initiatives, informing policy and practice developments.
Requirements:
A degree in pharmacy or a related field, registration with the GPhC, and relevant postgraduate qualifications or experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels. A proactive approach to problem-solving, with a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and improving outcomes.
