Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Band 8a lead clinical pharmacist to join our Transformation Unit. This exciting opportunity will enable you to make a significant impact on the delivery of medicines optimisation services across the Northeast and North Cumbria area.

We are looking for an exceptional individual with expertise in leading medicines optimisation initiatives, particularly in the area of reducing over-medication of people with learning disabilities (STOMP-STAMP). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing organisational leadership, collaborating with nursing teams, and ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines.

This role offers a unique chance to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to the development of mental health prescribing policy, training and supervising staff, and delivering education and clinical supervision. About the Role
  • You will work as an independent prescriber within defined clinical services across the trust, collaborating with nursing teams to improve the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of medicines use.
  • You will contribute to the development of mental health prescribing policy, collaborating with GPs, primary care pharmacists, secondary care specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • You will ensure systems and processes are in place for training and supervising staff undertaking enhanced STOMP-STAMP medication reviews.
  • You will lead on and provide subject expert input into associated groups regarding clinical pharmacy and medicines optimisation.
Your Qualifications and Experience
  • MPharm or equivalent first degree in Pharmacy
  • Postgraduate clinical qualification to diploma level or above
  • Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Management/Leadership qualification or equivalent relevant experience

The successful candidate will have substantial post-registration experience within NHS pharmacy practice, excellent communication skills, and good analytical and judgemental skills. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including a salary of approximately £65,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
