About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled IoT Network Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of our IoT communication networks at Unreal Gigs. As an expert in IoT networking, you will be responsible for architecting and deploying networks that ensure low-latency, high-availability communication between devices and back-end systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Deploy IoT Networks:
    • Design and implement IoT communication networks that connect sensors, devices, and gateways across various environments, using protocols like MQTT, CoAP, LoRaWAN, and Zigbee.
  • Optimize Network Performance:
    • Optimize network performance to ensure efficient data transmission between devices and cloud services, troubleshooting network issues and optimizing bandwidth usage, latency, and throughput for consistent device performance.
  • Manage Wireless and Cloud Connectivity:
    • Ensure seamless integration between IoT devices and cloud platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, Google Cloud IoT) using wireless communication technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and cellular networks (LTE/5G).
  • Monitor Network Security and Implement Best Practices:
    • Implement robust security measures to protect IoT networks from vulnerabilities, unauthorized access, and cyberattacks, securing communication channels using encryption, authentication protocols, and firewalls.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:
    • Work closely with IoT engineers, cloud architects, and security teams to design, test, and deploy network solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Network Issues:
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot network issues to maintain uninterrupted device connectivity.
  • Ensure Compliance with Industry Standards:
    • Ensure that IoT networks comply with industry standards and regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, or NIST.
Requirements
  • Required Skills:
    • iOT Networking Expertise: Strong experience in designing and managing IoT networks, including wireless technologies like LoRa, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE/5G, and network protocols like MQTT, CoAP, and HTTP.
    • Network Security: Expertise in securing IoT networks, including encryption, VPNs, firewalls, and authentication protocols.
    • Cloud and Edge Integration: Experience integrating IoT networks with cloud and edge platforms.
    • Troubleshooting and Optimization: Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting network performance issues.
    • Collaboration and Communication: Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Educational Requirements:
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Certified IoT Network Professional (CIoTP), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
  • Experience Requirements:
    • 3+ years of experience in network engineering.
    • Hands-on experience managing IoT networks in real-world environments.
    • Proven experience with IoT communication protocols (MQTT, CoAP, LoRa, Zigbee, BLE).

Estimated Salary: $160,000 - $230,000 per year
