About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Support Worker to join our Pharmacy Aseptic Team at our Grimsby Hospital. As a Pharmacy Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the preparation and dispensing of chemotherapy, CIVAS, and parenteral nutrition products within the Aseptic Preparation Suite.

Main Responsibilities

  • Preparation and dispensing of chemotherapy, CIVAS, and parenteral nutrition products within the Aseptic Preparation Suite.
  • Assist with the delivery of the Clinical Trials service.
  • Assist with the environmental monitoring and cleaning of the Aseptic Preparation Suite.

Working Conditions

As a Pharmacy Support Worker, you will be required to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adhering to strict hygiene and clothing requirements. This may involve working in a confined space for up to periods of 3 hours at a time, preparing cytotoxic medicines under COSHH guidelines, and wearing protective clothing including hoods, facemasks, and gloves.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

  • NVQ level 2 Pharmacy Services qualification or equivalent within Pharmacy.
  • Sound educational background - GCSE level C or above (or equivalent) or proven numeracy/literacy skills to an acceptable level.

Occupational Experience

  • Previous pharmacy experience in hospital or community pharmacy.

Desirable Criteria

  • Willingness to pursue further training.
  • Computer literate.
  • Previous experience of working in an aseptic unit/clean room environment.
