Sensory Care Specialist

Kent County Council is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Sensory Care Specialist to join its Adult Sensory Service team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work with adults who are d/Deaf or deaf-blind, utilizing British Sign Language (BSL) as a primary means of communication.
About the Role:
As a Sensory Care Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting Care Act Assessments, Mental Capacity Act (MCA) Assessments, Court of Protection applications, and s42 safeguarding enquiries. Your expertise will be essential in structuring social care interventions around the three pillars of excellent practice, exceptional innovation, and meaningful measures. You will build relationships with individuals, their families, and carers, engaging with communities to empower people to find trusted help and support locally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and interventions for adults with sensory impairments
- Develop and implement personalized care plans in collaboration with service users and their networks
- Engage with community organizations to promote access to local services and support
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to team discussions on best practices
Requirements:
- Registered Social Worker with Social Work England
- Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring Service
- Full UK Driving Licence (disability adjustments considered)
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken English/Welsh
