About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Web Standards Technologist to join our team at microTECH Global LTD. As a key member of our Web Standards Team, you will play a crucial role in driving web strategy and contributing to the evolution of W3C and other relevant web standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Standardisation Activities: Lead standardisation activities in W3C and actively contribute to future web standards.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with the web development community to promote the Internet browser, web standards, and capture future market requirements for browsers and the web.
  • Strategic Input: Provide strategic input to development teams to guide future development of the Internet browser and contributions to Chromium.
Role and Responsibilities
  • Represent W3C: Represent and actively participate in W3C standards activities.
  • Contribute to Web Standardisation: Contribute to the future direction of web standardisation in line with browser and product roadmaps.
  • Guide Product Strategy: Guide product strategy to align with the evolution of web standards.
  • Engage with Developers: Engage with the developer community through blog posts, presentations at conferences, social media, and the production of developer documentation, to advocate for the uptake of web standards and Web Platform features.
  • Develop Prototypes: Develop prototypes to guide the development of APIs, and demos using the APIs (with internal and external partners).
Requirements
  • Essential Skills: BS or higher degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Natural Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or any related discipline.
  • Background in Web Development: Background in web development and good understanding of existing and emerging web standards – particularly those from W3C.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in JavaScript, HTML, Web APIs, the development toolchain, and related technologies.
  • Problem-Solving: Adept problem-solver, able to create high-quality solutions that meet constraints and required timeframes.
  • Communication: An effective communicator able to present clearly and engagingly to diverse audiences at external events and conferences.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel internationally to support business needs.
Desirable Skills
  • W3C Experience: Experience of working in W3C standards/specification groups.
  • Emerging Privacy Standardisation: An understanding of emerging privacy standardisation efforts, and browsers' privacy-preserving features.
  • Technical Writing: Experience of writing technical blogs, contributing to podcasts, and other social media communications.
  • Mobile Device Market: Knowledge of the mobile device and browser market.
  • Android Platform: Familiarity with the Android platform.
  • Public Speaking: Public speaking experience.
  • Language Skills: Other languages in addition to fluent English, written and spoken.
