Clinical Fellow in Retrieval Medicine with London ACCESS

We are pleased to introduce an exciting opportunity for Senior Clinical Fellows to work in a joint collaborative role in partnership with the Adult Critical Care Emergency Support Service (ACCESS) hosted by Barts Health NHS and the Adult Intensive Care Medicine (including echocardiography and Education & Simulation Fellowships), Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
Main Responsibilities- Join the dedicated, multi-disciplinary transfer team as the transfer doctor to complete clinical, capacity and repatriation moves for critically unwell patients.
- Take clinical leadership of the team and undertake safe inter-hospital transfers with distant supervision (after an appropriate period of supervision and sign-off)
- Ensure thorough and accurate record keeping during transfers
- Perform effective clinical handover when handing over to receiving team
- Carry out appropriate equipment checks at the beginning and end of the day
- Attend daily pan-London briefings
- Carry out clinical transfers to the level appropriate to training
- Proactively engage in education, governance and QI activities on project days
- Have an active role in service development and training

Working ArrangementsLondon ACCESS operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
The shift patterns are varied, with a typical week consisting of 3 clinical shifts and one day for project work on a bespoke rota pattern to ensure you can use your time most effectively.
The directorate of Critical Care, Outreach and Resuscitation sits within the division of Surgery, Cancer and Cardiovascular sciences.
The directorate manages 3 critical care units on 3 sites, with a close working relationship and together providing critical care services to support local tertiary level specialist centres as well as providing general critical care services to the local populations.
Person SpecificationEssential Criteria
- Full GMC registration
- Completion of Core Training/ACCS
- Anaesthesia Training or equivalent by the time of post start
- Applicants should have no less than 12 months experience in anaesthesia
- 12 months ICU experience
- Anaesthetics/ICM ST4+
- PHEM ST5+
Desirable Criteria
- Significant experience with intra- and inter-hospital transfer of critically ill patients
- Further experience in intensive care medicine including management of patients with acute cardiac and neurological illnesses
- 6 months Acute Medicine experience
