The University of York's Nuclear Physics Group seeks a highly skilled postdoctoral researcher to join Prof Marina Petri's team.

Research Opportunities

The successful candidate will work on the HYPATIA project, a novel scintillator array designed to enhance opportunities for γ-ray spectroscopy experiments at the RIBF.

HYPATIA is a collaborative project between the Nuclear Physics Group and the STFC, aiming to advance the field of nuclear physics.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Assemble and test HYPATIA modules in the detector laboratory
  • Commission HYPATIA modules at the RIBF
  • Develop and lead experiments at the RIBF
  • Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for future research
  • PhD in Experimental Nuclear Physics or equivalent experience
  • Hands-on experience with scintillator crystals and photosensor technology
  • Experience of data analysis and simulations
  • Experience of setting up and planning nuclear physics experiments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

We offer a comprehensive benefits package and a competitive salary, £38,750 per annum, depending on experience.
