The School of Physics, Engineering and Technology at the University of York is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Physics Research Specialist to join Prof Marina Petri's group. The successful candidate will play a key role in the construction of HYPATIA, a novel scintillator array currently under development. This innovative γ-ray spectrometer will significantly enhance opportunities for γ-ray spectroscopy experiments at the RIBF, the world's premier facility for studying rare and exotic nuclei.

As a Nuclear Physics Research Specialist, you will be responsible for assembling and characterising the HYPATIA modules in the detector laboratory, and commissioning the HYPATIA modules at the RIBF. You will also propose and lead experiments at the RIBF, as well as define future research opportunities with the array. A strong background in analysis of large data sets from Nuclear Physics experiments and in simulations is essential.

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced Experimental Nuclear Physicist to contribute to cutting-edge research in Nuclear Physics. If you have a PhD in Experimental Nuclear Physics or equivalent experience, hands-on experience with scintillator crystals and photosensor technology, and strong team working and communication skills, we encourage you to apply.
