Senior SEMH Learning Support Assistant

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dynamic and passionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-graded 'Good' secondary pupil referral unit in Preston. This role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students in a supportive and stimulating environment.
Job Description:- The successful candidate will support students' learning across Key Stage 3 and 4, demonstrating resilience, patience, and an ability to strike up rapport and develop relationships with SEMH pupils.
Pupils arrive at the school having struggled to access learning in their previous school/s, and clear routines and therapies are implemented in school to help re-engage students with the education system. The personal relationships developed with pupils ensure that each one achieves their potential both academically and personally.
We offer a competitive salary of £51 per day, depending upon experience and qualification, paid directly via PAYE. The school is looking to take someone on through an initial long-term, temporary period, with a view to subsequently offering a permanent contract to the right candidate.
The school has a fantastic record of developing and up-skilling their staff internally, with a number of current teaching staff having started their career in school as a temporary teaching assistant.
- To be successful in this SEMH Teaching Assistant role, you will need to have knowledge and understanding of working with SEN and challenging behaviour.
- Demonstrate a proven record of engaging all pupils and raising their attainment.
- Be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure - or hold a DBS currently subscribed to the DBS Update Service.
- Ensure your CV covers all employment and education since leaving secondary school.
- Have the legal right to work in the UK.
