Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our team at the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Senior Pharmacy Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our Medicines Optimisation strategy across critical care, emergency departments, and inpatient wards.

This leadership role provides an exciting opportunity for experienced Pharmacy Technicians to develop their skills further, working with innovative technology and systems while contributing to service planning and development. You will participate in the medicines reconciliation process, supply medication during inpatient stays, support effective and timely discharges, and provide patient counselling. Additionally, you will support the development of rotational staff within your area and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have recent post-qualification experience in hospital ward and dispensary pharmacy, including experience in medication history taking and medicines reconciliation. They should also possess strong training and educational supervision skills, as well as demonstrated supervisory abilities. The salary for this position is estimated to be around £32,000 - £42,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for participating in the day-to-day management of clinical staff, responding to organisational needs, facilitating patient flow throughout the hospital, and contributing to service planning and development. You will also deliver training, undertake clinical audits, and evaluate services. Furthermore, you will assist in implementing new developments and respond to change without difficulty. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure and meet objectives and targets.
