Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an Interim Closedown/End of Year Accountant to join one of our Local Authority clients for a minimum of 6 months. This role is crucial to the structure and gives the successful applicant the chance to add real value to the existing team during a vital time of year.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading the year end process and ensuring timely completion
  • Working as an intermediary to explain any variance analysis
  • Preparation, reviewing, sense checking and proof reading of final accounts
  • Supporting colleagues in the resolution of accounting and budgetary issues
  • Treasury Management
  • Managing the Capital Programmes
  • VAT, Creditors
  • Provision of technical accounting and possibly budgetary advice
  • Preparing adjusting journals as necessary
  • Being the main point of contact for auditors
  • Leading the group consolidations
  • Ensuring the delivery against the audit schedules and timelines.

The successful candidate will have experience of closing accounts for a Local Authority, evidence of working within the Public/Local Authority Sector, and development and delivery of process improvements. Ideally, they will be fully qualified and registered with professional accounting qualification such as CIMA, ACCA or equivalent. They will also have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence others, be a self-starter experienced in leading on year-end and liaising with auditors, and advanced excel skills.

Salary:

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £200-£250 per day, depending on experience.
