We offer a competitive salary and a $5,000 signing bonus for successful rehires who complete their probationary period. The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately $62,000, based on the requirements and qualifications outlined below.
Job Description
This is a rehire opportunity for experienced professionals who want to serve and protect their community. As a Virginia State Police Trooper, you will be responsible for:
• Enforcing laws and maintaining order on the highways and public roads
• Providing emergency services and responding to calls for assistance
• Conducting traffic stops and investigating accidents
• Collaborating with other law enforcement agencies to achieve common goals
• Working rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 21 years old and a U.S. citizen
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Hold a valid driver's license
- Pass all Phase One pre-employment testing, including the Work Performance Test (WPT)
- Complete a polygraph examination and pass a background investigation
- Successfully complete a medical and psychological evaluation
- Be willing to relocate anywhere in the state and work rotating shifts
- Meet the Department's tattoo and body modification policies
