Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant Orthopaedics with a strong interest in Hand Surgery to join our team at Northampton General Hospital.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in the Trauma On-call service, operating lists, ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and presenting monthly mortality and morbidity statistics. They will also be expected to supervise and train middle-grade staff and participate in departmental teaching meetings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the Trauma On-call service
  • Operate lists, both Elective and Trauma
  • Conduct regular ward rounds
  • Lead outpatient clinics, both Elective and Trauma
  • Present monthly mortality and morbidity statistics
  • Supervise and train middle-grade staff
  • Participate in departmental teaching meetings

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Full Registration with the GMC
  • FRCS (Tr+Orth) or equivalent
  • On specialist register for Trauma and Orthopaedics
  • Evidence of fellowship in Hand/Wrist Surgery
  • Wide range of experience in Hand/Wrist Surgery
  • Broad range of experience in general trauma provision
