About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Therapist to join our Lymphoedema team at South Bucks Hospice. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care and treatment to patients suffering from Lymphoedema.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide treatment and care to patients with Lymphoedema, ensuring their comfort and long-term health care needs are met.
  • Work with the team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, coordinating care from admission to discharge.
  • Evaluate referrals from medical and non-medical practitioners, carrying out initial assessments for those referred for Lymphoedema.
  • Support community teams in their practice of patients with Lymphoedema, taking a wider view of patient care.
  • Refer appropriately to other professionals both internally and externally.
  • Maintain patient safety, providing physical, emotional, and psychological support to patients and carers.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with professional, ethical patient assessments, care plans, and note-taking, ensuring they are clear and accurate.
  • Deliver education on the management of Lymphoedema as agreed with the Head of Lymphoedema.
  • Support the department and all activities to ensure compliance with NICE and CQC guidelines.
  • Manage patient caseloads in accordance with South Bucks Hospice's policies and procedures.
  • Deputise for the Head of Lymphoedema in their absence.
  • Support service development and achievement of department aims and objectives.
  • Be involved in clinical and hospice initiatives as required to achieve the strategic aims of South Bucks Hospice.
  • Recognise and take positive action to support the team at all times, working towards an holistic approach to staff wellbeing.
  • Comply with staff appraisals, performance reviews, training, and educating.
  • Undertake accurate reporting regarding the performance, operational needs, and general capacity to the Head of Lymphoedema.
  • Actively comply and demonstrate the implementation of good infection prevention control in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Support the writing of policies and procedures for South Bucks Hospice to achieve best practice at all times.

About Us

South Bucks Hospice at Butterfly House is a day hospice supporting patients living with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses. We offer patient-centred care to individuals through the provision of specialist palliative, psychotherapeutic, and Lymphoedema care, as well as supporting their families and carers.

Requirements

  • Appropriate Nursing Qualification and minimum of two years' experience within a similar position.
  • Good understanding of Lymphoedema.
