About the Role
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Audit team in Southampton as an Audit Manager.
As an Audit Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of audit clients, providing assistance to Partners, and participating in special assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Client work:
- Provide an efficient and proactive service to clients, exceeding their expectations throughout the year.
- Liaise with client Partners and Evelyn Partners staff to ensure all are kept up to date.
- Audit work and budgeting, with awareness of commercial aspects of clients' businesses and their impact on our work.
- Arrange timetables, book staff, plan reviews, and complete audits and other related assignments.
- Stay aware of compliance developments and their impact on clients.
- Client billing.
- Staff Management:
- Organize staff on jobs, ensuring each individual is clear on expectations and timescales, properly trained, and receives constructive feedback. Identify and minimize any shortages or excess workloads.
- Ensure assessment forms are completed and feedback given to all staff on all jobs.
- Liaise with junior staff to assess any issues that need addressing.
- Ensure in-house and external training is received personally.
- Business Development:
- Prepare proposals for new work.
- Attend relevant marketing events.
- Present at seminars if required.
- Attend client segment focus group meetings.
- Develop personal contacts.
- Identify and develop opportunities for Evelyn Partners with current clients.
Requirements
- An accounting qualification, such as ACA, CA, or ACCA.
- Significant external audit experience gained within a professional services environment.
- Experience working with entrepreneurial, OMB, SME, and AIM listed clients.
- Experience in business development activities, including targeting, proposal preparation, presentation, and networking event attendance.
- Demonstrable working knowledge of accounting and auditing standards, industry specifics, and their application.
- Good working knowledge of staff skill requirements to ensure work is undertaken by the appropriate individual.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with clients, Partners, staff, and other professionals.
- Previous experience in management and motivation of staff to ensure best performance.
- Organization to ensure the needs of clients, Partners, and staff are all met.
- Monitoring costs against budget for individual clients.
