Job Summary

IDEX Consulting Ltd is seeking an experienced Actuarial Assistant to join our team in a specialist role focused on insurance pricing in pensions. As an Actuarial Assistant - Insurance Pricing Specialist, you will be responsible for carrying out cashflow valuations of funds, preparing data and actuarial bases, and producing complex actuarial models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out cashflow valuations of funds considering buyout/buy-in insurance contracts
  • Prepare data and actuarial bases using in-house standard approaches and software
  • Produce complex actuarial models and calculations, including individual benefit and transfer value calculations
  • Develop a basic understanding of relevant technical issues, including scheme documentation, regulatory frameworks, and technical advice
  • Report to the team leader on tight deadlines and/or budgets
  • Prioritize and plan personal workflow

Requirements

  • Previous experience in pensions valuations is required
  • Strong IT skills, expertise in MS Excel is essential
  • Good analytical skills and ability to work through tasks in a logical manner
  • A keen interest in actuarial concepts
  • A high level of numeracy
  • Ability to work well under time pressure and communicate findings with clarity
  • An inquisitive and analytical mind
  • Outstanding accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize effectively
  • Broad understanding of how the UK pensions schemes operate, with an understanding of the UK Pensions Act and ability to interpret rules
