Senior Actuary

**Location: Guildford/London/Hybrid**

The purpose of this role is to lead the actuarial input in a selection of activities, taking responsibility for quarterly reviewing, annual business planning and business partnering with underwriters, technical pricing, capital modelling and working with portfolio managers to manage the performance of these portfolios.

The post holders who are matched to this job family role profile will have been notified that they are a Certified post holder under the FCA/PRA Senior Manager and Certification Regime. In these cases, they have certain regulatory obligation which they have been informed about. These post holders must ensure that they perform their role and deliver their responsibilities in line with these requirements.

**Key accountabilities**
- Manages and develops a team of Analysts and Qualified Actuaries
- Contributes to the wider leadership of the function as a senior member of the team
- Leads the development of the Insurance Committee framework and communication of quarterly views of underwriting profitability
- Leads the actuarial oversight of pricing, underwriting and reinsurance
- Leads the actuarial oversight of the annual business planning
- Leads the actuarial oversight of business growth and long term transformation
- Influences key stakeholders including portfolio managers and business finance managers

**Skills & Experience**

**Technical skills**
- Strong Excel skills
- Working knowledge of other Microsoft products such as Word, PowerPoint etc.
- Familiarity with actuarial reserving, pricing or capital modelling techniques and software

**Qualifications**
- Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent)

**Experience**
- General insurance experience in at least one of reserving, pricing or capital modelling
- Attracting, developing, motivating and retaining the talent that is required to deliver effectively
- Engaging at all levels of seniority, build strong relationships and influence effectively
