About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Systems Manager to join our team at Shared Services Connected Ltd. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems in both Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement database systems to meet business requirements and ensure data integrity and security.
  • Manage and monitor database security, access controls, and backups to safeguard data and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Provide guidance on the installation, configuration, and optimization of server hardware, storage, and software to ensure performance and availability.
  • Manage database systems to ensure capacity, availability, and integrity requirements are aligned with operational and service demand.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations to ensure seamless system operation.
  • Manage database system availability across multiple data centers.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in database systems management, with a strong background in Oracle DBA and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Expert knowledge of high availability, capacity, backup, and disaster recovery management.
  • Strong T-SQL and PL/SQL programming skills for writing and optimizing database queries and procedures.
  • Proficient in creating high and low-level documentation detailing system architecture and design.
  • Accreditation to technical level or equivalent experience essential, and accreditation in another technology area preferred.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working in complex MOD secure environments.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Server and Redhat Linux Operating System.
