About the Role

As a Lead Database Administrator at Shared Services Connected Ltd, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our critical database systems. You'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining databases across both Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle architectures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive data governance strategies to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
  • Implement robust security measures, access controls, and backup procedures to safeguard sensitive data.
  • Provide expert guidance on server hardware, storage, and software optimization to enhance database performance and availability.
  • Manage database capacity, availability, and integrity to meet operational demands across multiple data centers.
  • Plan and execute seamless database upgrades, patches, and migrations.
  • Lead a team of technical professionals in the completion of project tasks related to database management.

Your Expertise

  • Proven experience leading technical teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of database systems management principles and best practices.
  • Deep expertise in Oracle DBA, Microsoft SQL Server, High Availability solutions (Always-on and DataGuard), Capacity Management, Backup & Disaster Recovery strategies.
  • Strong understanding of database security features and industry-standard security protocols.
  • Experience managing database systems across multiple data centers to ensure high availability.
  • Proficiency in T-SQL and PL/SQL programming for optimizing queries and procedures.
  • Excellent documentation skills, capable of creating both high-level and low-level technical documentation.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Experience working within complex, secure environments, particularly within the MOD sector.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Server and Redhat Linux operating systems.
  • Relevant technical accreditations or equivalent experience.
