About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Database Architect to join our team at Sopra Steria. As a key member of our Aerospace, Defence and Security business, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems in both Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database architecture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Database Design and Implementation: Design and implement database systems that meet the needs of our clients, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
  • Database Management: Manage and monitor database security, access controls, and backups to safeguard data and ensure compliance with MOD and industry standards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of technical colleagues, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Capacity Planning: Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations to ensure capacity, availability, and integrity requirements are met.
  • Database Security: Manage database system security features and best practices to ensure data protection and compliance.
Requirements
  • Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in database systems management, with expertise in Oracle DBA, Microsoft SQL Server, High Availability, and Capacity, Backup, and DR management.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading technical teams to complete project tasks, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Education and Certifications: Accreditation to technical level or equivalent experience essential, and accreditation in another technology area preferred.
