About The Hangout

The Hangout is a pioneering service developed by Platfform to provide timely and out-of-hours support for children and young people aged 11-18 experiencing emotional distress.

As part of the regional provision for children and young people's mental health, The Hangout offers a range of support and links with other provisions delivered by partners, local authorities, and third sector organisations.

We are seeking a Wellbeing Practitioner to support the work of The Hangout, providing direct trauma-informed support to children and young people, and delivering group sessions and activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-to-one wellbeing support and group-based activities, including therapeutic interventions, social events, and community-led initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Service Manager and wider team of practitioners, receiving clinical supervision and guidance from the team's Assistant Psychologist.
  • Support emotional regulation and provide ongoing support and signposting during afternoons, evenings, and weekends for young people based in Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Requirements

  • A deep understanding of relationship-based practice and the ability to communicate, educate, coach, and support young people to improve their wellbeing.
  • An understanding of a trauma-informed approach and the ability to provide both one-off and ongoing support.
