Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our team as a Team Leader for the Distribution area. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the ward Topping Up service and the receipt and supply functions of the Distribution area.

The ideal candidate will have relevant Hospital pharmacy experience as a qualified Technician, with a strong background in Dispensing and Distribution stock control systems. They will also possess excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

The role will involve developing and maintaining tailored training programmes for the Automated Dispensing Robot and Intelligent Storage Systems, as well as assisting with stock control and investigating any discrepancies. The successful candidate will also be responsible for adding new products and bar codes to the system, and providing prompt and appropriate support to users.

Main Duties
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for Topping Up, the Automated Dispensing Robot and Intelligent Storage Systems
  • Develop and maintain tailored training programmes for the Automated Dispensing Robot and Intelligent Storage Systems
  • Assist with stock control and investigate any discrepancies
  • Participate in the Dispensary late duty rota
  • Cover for the Deputy Team Leader Dispensary if needed
  • Add new products and bar codes to the system
  • Record and investigate system errors reported by users
  • Liaise with the ward Pharmacist and lead nurse regarding the installation of intelligent storage on wards and departments
  • Provide and manage an efficient pharmacy topping up service to intensive care units, theatres, wards and departments in the Trust
  • Support the Purchasing and Homecare team Manager with the day-to-day running of the Distribution
  • Be responsible for the weekly top up rota, ensuring that the workload is evenly spread amongst the team
