Job overviewWe are seeking a self-motivated and committed individual to develop their leadership skills in this management role. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the workload of the dispensary and supervising staff on a day-to-day basis, ensuring a safe, effective, and timely service in accordance with current legislation and guidance.
Main duties of the jobAs part of this role, you will support the Pharmacy Technician Team Manager for Dispensaries to ensure the dispensary meets its quality and activity targets. You will manage the operational aspects of the dispensary service on a day-to-day basis, including receipt, dispensing, checking, supply, and delivery of medicines. You will also oversee the ordering and supply of controlled stationery and act as a final accuracy checker for individually dispensed prescriptions.
Key responsibilities- Manage a team of dedicated pharmacy staff, including students, support workers, and other dispensary-based staff, in the supply of dispensed medication for inpatients and outpatients.
- Act as a leader within the relevant setting, ensuring a safe and effective service.
- Manage the operational aspects of the dispensary service, including receipt, dispensing, checking, supply, and delivery of medicines.
- Oversee the ordering and supply of controlled stationery.
- Act as a final accuracy checker for individually dispensed prescriptions.
- Assess the training needs of the pharmacy staff and provide competency-based training.
- Supervise staff during induction/training periods within the relevant service.
- BTEC level 3 in pharmaceutical science or equivalent qualification.
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- BTEC Level 4 in dispensing accuracy checking or equivalent qualification.
- NVQ A1 workplace assessor or willingness to work towards.
- Management experience within pharmaceutical services.
- Experience or knowledge of medicines management services within an NHS context.
- Experience of dispensing and accuracy checking medication.
- Understanding of the working of organisations.
- Clear understanding of all relevant legislation and guidance relating to dispensary services.
