Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Neonatal Nurse to join our team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. As a Senior Neonatal Nurse, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care to critically ill newborns and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate shifts in the neonatal unit, ensuring seamless care delivery and effective communication with the team.
  • Provide expert clinical guidance and support to junior staff, pre-registration student nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and staff satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and effective communication.
  • Participate in education and training programs to stay up-to-date with the latest neonatal care practices and research.
Requirements
  • Registered Children's Nurse, Registered Nurse, or Registered Midwife qualification.
  • Specialty qualification in neonatal nursing.
  • Teaching and assessing qualification.
  • Recent experience at senior staff nurse level within neonatal nursing.
  • Evidence of clinical competence in neonatal nursing skills.
  • Evidence of ability to assume a lead clinical role.
  • Understanding of the setting and monitoring of standards.
  • Evidence of teaching and developing staff.
Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrable clinical skills in neonatal nursing.
  • Ability to make clinical decisions.
  • Ability to manage the care of neonatal conditions, including intensive, high dependency, and special care.
  • Neonatal IV therapy, venepuncture, and cannulation skills.
  • Ability to obtain and evaluate information to aid decision making and to develop others in this area.
  • IT skills, including word processing, email, and internet.
  • NMC Regulations.
  • NHS Modernisation initiatives.
  • Understanding of Child protection awareness.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance agenda.
  • Awareness of clinical risk and quality issues.
