As a Submarines Weights Engineer at BAE Systems, you will play a critical role in supporting the Company's programme for submarines and surface ships. This involves calculation and monitoring of weights and centres from project concept to vessel delivery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on a portion of the vessel, ensuring that all requirements are met and exceeded.

The estimated salary for this position is £23,100 per annum.

Job DescriptionAbout the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Submarines Weights Engineer. As a member of our team, you will have the chance to work on a variety of projects, including calculation and monitoring of weights and centres.

You will be responsible for preparing data for technical and production departments, undertaking functional design, and providing specialist advice and qualification of your scope of responsibility.

You will also be responsible for producing evidence in support of qualification, legislative requirements, and safety justifications, and contributing to the identification and rapid closure of issues emerging from all product lifecycle stages.

In addition, you will liaise with both internal and external customers as required, ensuring that their requirements are adequately supported and that their needs are fully considered and incorporated where appropriate.

Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to be on track to obtain a 2.2 in your Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. You will also need to demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices, as well as experience working with weights and centres calculations. Additionally, you will need to be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively, while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
