Join our team of skilled maintenance technicians at Biffa Waste Services, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our plant.

As a maintenance technician, you will be responsible for carrying out plant upgrades and modifications to the required standards, reporting all work carried out through our computerised maintenance management system, and developing and implementing a programme of planned preventative maintenance and inspection to minimise downtime.

You will also be required to be available for planned maintenance shutdown periods, liaise with external contractors on specific repairs/maintenance, and implement and ensure compliance with all company policies, processes and procedures.

Requirements

Essential criteria for the Maintenance Technician role:

  • Experienced Mechanical/Multi-Skilled Engineer working in a process or production environment
  • A willingness to learn new skills and adapt to a changing environment as required
  • An HNC/HND/C+G (or Industry equivalent) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering is preferable but not essential; however, your practical experience should be proven, some Electrical principle knowledge would also be advantageous
  • You will have a good level of experience working to clearly defined KPIs and delivering continuous improvement within an operational environment
  • Knowledge and practical experience of large Conveyors, Chain Drives, Hydraulics, material Compactors, Shredders, Overhead cranes and Pneumatics is desirable
  • Experience of working within a time critical process environment is essential. Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with others, technical and non-technical
