About the Role

The Speedwell Practice is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Secretary/Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our administrative staff, you will provide essential support to ensure the smooth operation of our practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to our medical team, including typing letters, reports, and patient referrals.
  • Manage appointments and bookings, utilizing our electronic referral system.
  • Maintain accurate and secure filing and administrative systems.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing communications, including telephone calls and messages.
  • Ensure the accuracy and security of our computer system.
  • Assist with data collection and statistics as required.
  • Provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence.
  • Receive and dispatch mail.

About Our Practice

The Speedwell Practice is a well-established GP practice providing primary care services to a patient population of 12,000. We are a friendly, well-organized, and thriving practice with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
  • Experience working as a Medical Secretary is desirable, but we encourage applications from candidates with transferable skills and a willingness to undertake suitable training.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and multitask effectively.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of medical terminology are advantageous.
