We are Millar Associates, a leading global Investment Bank trading commodities in key locations worldwide. Our team focuses on Commodity Analytics and seeks an experienced Quantitative Analyst to join us.

Job Overview

A highly competitive salary up to £260K is offered for this role.

You will be responsible for developing derivatives and structured products for our Commodities Desk in London, which is also used by traders in Paris, Singapore and New York. We welcome candidates from backgrounds in Commodities, FX or Equity with strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities and the capacity to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Derivative Pricing Models: Enhance existing models and implement new ones to meet the evolving needs of our Commodities Desk.
  • Risk Tools & Reports: Provide essential risk analysis tools and reports to support our trading activities.
  • Gas Curve Construction: Develop and maintain accurate gas curve construction models, including daily UK/Continental and marking tree models.
  • Energy/Metal Volatility: Maintain and improve existing toolsuite for energy and metal volatility analysis.
  • Analytics Documentation: Deliver high-quality analytics documentation and test materials.
  • Commodity Desk Support: Offer day-to-day support to our Commodity Desks, covering Gas, Crude, Options and Carbon Energy transition.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Quant Analytics Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in quantitative analytics roles, preferably with commodity product exposure.
  • Coverage of Commodities, FX or Equity: Proven track record of working with Commodities, FX or Equity derivative products, including Commodity Index exposure.
  • Knowledge of Commodities Markets: In-depth understanding of commodities markets, including gas curve construction and physical delivery products.
  • Numerical Methods & Programming Skills: Strong programming skills in C++, C#, Java, Python, Matlab or R, along with knowledge of numerical methods, stochastic calculus, econometrics and probability.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English.
  • Educational Background: PhD or Master's degree in a quantitative or engineering field.

Salary Range: Up to £260K total package including benefits.
