Health and Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Advisor to join our team at Manchester Airport. As a key member of our safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, customers, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities- Support the implementation and management of MAG priorities related to health and safety.
- Provide comprehensive advice and support to managers and colleagues on safety management systems.
- Ensure stakeholders understand and comply with MAG standards on safe working practices, safe places, equipment, and welfare arrangements.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of airport operations, including operational challenges, stakeholder relationships, safety cultures, and colleagues' attitudes to health and safety.
- Manage health and safety risks, support the delivery and adoption of Manchester's safety management system.
- Support the development and delivery of Safety Improvement Plans (SIP).
- Support the development and delivery of health and safety communications across business areas, including annual safety campaigns and associated events.
- Responsible for supporting change management programs, advising managers, and supporting with all aspects of implementing change.
To be successful in this role, you will have a minimum of a National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent) and good health and safety experience (preferably 5 years) gained ideally as an adviser in a 24/7, fast-paced operational environment. You will also have a solid understanding of the culture, challenges, and constraints of the airport environment. Additionally, you will have experience in providing compliance-related health and safety expertise, advice, and assurance, as well as a good understanding of auditing techniques and practice. Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (at a relevant level) is also required. Ideally, you will also have a National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent).
