About the Opportunity:

Orbis Education & Care offers a challenging and rewarding role for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join its team at Birchwood School in Cardiff. The successful candidate will have expertise in delivering occupational therapy services to children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). As an occupational therapist, you will play a key role in promoting children's physical, sensory, and emotional development.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Deliver Therapy Programs: Create and implement occupational therapy programs tailored to individual pupil needs, using evidence-based approaches such as sensory integration and trauma-informed practices.
  • Collaborate with Professionals: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement strategies to support pupils' learning and development.
  • Provide Staff Training: Provide guidance and training to staff on strategies to support pupils' learning and development.
  • Environment Design: Adapt environments to support students' functional performance and promote inclusive learning.
  • Policy Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant education laws and policies.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy: Degree in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registered (or supported to register).
  • Expertise in Children's Needs: Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges or special educational needs.
  • Knowledge of Sensory Integration: Knowledge of sensory integration, motor development, and therapeutic approaches for emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Desirable: School-Based Background: Experience in a school-based setting is desirable.
