About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Administrator to join our team at Screwfix. As a Payroll Administrator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely payment of our employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll transactions, including starters, leavers, amendments, and tax code changes.
  • Set up and maintain Court Orders, SIP & Sharesave, Childcare Vouchers, Loans and advances, Pension Opt-In, and Sick Pay.
  • Liaise with external payroll providers and support the management of the relationship.
  • Manage the Payroll shared mailbox and respond to enquiries within the agreed SLA.
  • Reconcile and manage the flow of Auto Enrolment and Pension data to the Pension Administrator.
  • Provide advice to managers on best practice for maintaining SAP Time.
  • Support the business in relevant project initiatives, as required, by providing subject matter expertise.
  • Keep up to date with relevant Payroll legislation and best practice.
  • Ensure all standard operating procedures are complete and updated annually.
  • Ensure compliance with Group Financial Reporting Manual and Screwfix internal controls.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities as part of Screwfix Smart Working.

Requirements

  • Experience in Payroll Services, including understanding of statutory payments – including Statutory Sick Pay, Statutory Maternity & Paternity, PAYE and National Insurance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively across the business and with third parties, including HMRC.
  • Intermediate Excel skills as a minimum.
  • Knowledge of SAP HR would be an advantage.
  • Ability to develop solutions to problems and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy of colleague pay.
