We are recruiting a dedicated and efficient Workshop Controller for our Nissan and Ora branch at Wessex Garages Holdings Ltd. The role involves working with the Service Manager to deliver high productivity and excellent first-time repair standards, while maintaining a clean, safe, and professional workshop.

About the role

The ideal candidate will be an organised, quick-thinking individual with previous motor industry experience, looking to develop their career and move into a management role. The ability to work to deadlines, react to technical challenges, and maintain a fast-paced environment is essential.

Day-to-day duties

  • Managing and coaching a team of vehicle technicians and apprentices to meet targets and business objectives.
  • Ensuring all servicing work is carried out correctly, competently, and on time, with customer satisfaction in mind.
  • Ensuring working practices comply with company, DVSA, health and safety, and manufacturer policy.
  • Working with colleagues and other departments to provide a seamless service for customers.
  • Scheduling work to meet customer needs, considering workshop targets, job complexity, and part availability.
  • Providing estimates for servicing and repairs, setting timescales.
  • Assisting technicians with technical challenges, finding the right outcome.
  • Accurately recording technician time, writing technical reports and recommendations.

Essential skills

  • Relevant experience in the automotive industry, including previous workshop control or technician roles.
  • High levels of organisation and accuracy.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Fantastic interpersonal skills, able to communicate well with customers and colleagues across departments.
  • Ability to lead by example, motivate the team, and achieve targets.
  • Ability to create work opportunities and sales in an honest and compliant manner.
