Woking, Surrey, United Kingdom McLaren Racing Full time

At McLaren Racing, we're committed to pushing the boundaries of high-performance engineering. As a key member of our team, you'll play a vital role in supporting the development and preparation of our drivers and client drivers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Engineering and Operational aspects of the Test of Previous Car programme objectives.
  • Providing development opportunities to operational and engineering personnel within McLaren Racing.

As part of our dynamic Engineering team, you'll work closely with the Lead Engineer to coordinate, prepare, and execute engineering and operational tasks around test events. You'll also be responsible for developing longer-term improvements to processes or analysis.

Collaboration is key in this role, as you'll work across a diverse range of functions, including physical car-focused teams, track engineering, control systems, team organisation, and process development.

Key areas of focus include:

Operational Engineering
  • Supporting the permanent and event-specific TPC team at both factory and track events.
  • Defining and maintaining car specification for each TPC event.
  • Preparing for near and future aspects of car builds, working with Project Managers and Logistics to manage allocations.
Trackside Engineering
  • Supporting the Lead Engineer in ensuring thorough technical/engineering support and planning for each TPC event.
  • Collaborating in technical and personnel aspects with core Engineering competencies required to run a Formula 1 car.

This is a broad role with opportunities to tailor your responsibilities to your interests and skills. We're looking for individuals with a proven interest in building knowledge beyond a core department, towards a broader understanding of how an F1 team operates an F1 car.

Key requirements include:

  • Experience within at least one F1 Engineering function.
  • Engineering-level literacy with computers.
  • Experience in programming, use of simulation tools, and the Dassault 3DX CAD system is ideal.
  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline.

We offer a comprehensive package of benefits, including private healthcare, car schemes, life insurance, and generous pension contributions. Our state-of-the-art campus offers many facilities, including a gym, restaurant, and indoor and outdoor break-out areas.
