Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Practitioner to join our Paediatric Dietetic Service. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to children and young people with complex nutritional needs.

Main Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Delivering group programmes for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder/Condition who have associated selective eating or limited diet
  • Delivering group programmes for infants and young children with Cow's Milk Allergy
  • Providing support in Special School clinics by weighing and measuring children
  • Providing support for children referred to the service who have a high Body Mass Index and who are under the care of the specialist dietitian
  • Providing face-to-face and telephone appointments for children with nutritional deficiencies and constipation and other similar conditions
  • Providing support for the Paediatric Dietitians by taking messages and arranging delivery of feeding equipment for children who are tube fed at home
  • Helping support student dietitians who are on placement

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Education to Higher National Certificate, Vocational Qualifications level 4 or 5, Foundation Degree, Higher National Diploma, Diploma in Higher Education, or equivalent
  • A basic knowledge of nutrition in health and disease, including malnutrition, nutrition support, and principles of healthy eating
  • Experience of working with patients and carers with different medical conditions
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting or NVQ level 2 Health Care
