Job Overview:
Yorkshire Water is seeking a skilled and motivated Network Support Specialist to join our Operational IT team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of our network systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first and second-line technical support for network-related issues, including triaging and resolving complex problems.
- Monitor network performance and security, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.
- Assist with the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of network hardware and software.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to implement network enhancements and upgrades.
- Manage and resolve incidents and service requests related to network systems in a timely manner.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement solutions to prevent future occurrences.
- Document all support activities, including incident resolution steps and troubleshooting procedures.
- Manage relationships with network and telephony system suppliers to ensure timely and effective support and service delivery.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) for network and telephony systems.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, providing clear and concise updates on incident status and resolution.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a network support role.
- Proven experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, and F5 Load Balancer systems, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, switching, and routing.
- Experience with network monitoring tools and techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE), Juniper Networks Certified Specialist, or F5 Certified Administrator.
- Experience with other network technologies and vendors.
- Familiarity with ITIL framework and service management best practices.
