Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Protec Fire Detection PLC. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for designing and costing new installations, preparing and submitting quotations, and assisting with technical bid writing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Costing: Prepare and submit quotations in accordance with client and British Standard requirements, ensuring tenders are accurate and customer orders are correctly processed.
  • Technical Bid Writing: Assist with the preparation of technical bid documents, including methodologies, sequencing, and technical submission documents.
  • Design Drawings: Prepare conceptual electronic design drawings and system schematic wiring details.
  • Quotation Preparation: Liaise with the Sales Manager/Sales Engineer and Project/Design Teams to prepare and submit quotations to prospective clients.
  • Cost Information: Assist in preparing cost information, profit forecasts, and ensure tenders are properly collated.
  • Supplier Quotations: Obtain competitive written quotations from suppliers or sub-contractors for inclusion in tender bids.
  • Technical Assessment: Technically assess third-party quotations for compliance.
  • Site Meetings: Represent the Company at initial site meetings and complete site surveys as deemed necessary.
  • Client Sales Orders: Process client sales orders and liaise with project engineers on installation orders to ensure customer/job files are prepared.
  • Administration: Undertake any administration and phone duties as required.

Qualifications

Essential: A full Electrical based qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC, HNC etc.

Experience

Essential: Experience within a similar role, designing and costing new installations.

Working Knowledge: Working knowledge of current British Standards.

Desirable: Experience of installing life safety and associated systems.

Essential: Ability to produce and read technical drawings and specifications.
