Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Test Engineer to join our team at Protec Fire Detection PLC. As a key member of our Technical Services department, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our products through thorough testing and validation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of new and existing software and hardware to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of industry standards, customs, and practices, as well as Protec systems and legacy systems.
  • Collaborate with our R&D team to provide feedback on testing results and identify areas for improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with technical staff, export clients, sales engineers, design staff, and end-users to provide support and guidance.
  • Develop and maintain test equipment racks and assist in diagnosing faults with products returned from customers.
  • Ensure products meet and conform to specifications through rigorous testing.
  • Provide professionally written test reports and attend customer sites as required.
  • Develop and maintain written technical procedures to assist Protec engineers.
  • Perform Electromagnetic Compatibility testing and other duties as required.
Requirements
  • A full electrical-based qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC, HNC, etc.
  • Experience working within the electrical/electronic sector.
  • A working knowledge of electrical circuits and measuring devices.
  • Experience working with Fire Alarms and associated systems.
  • Competent in using technology such as laptops, measuring devices, and smart phones.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office packages.
  • A genuine interest in your work with an enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
